Buyer – Remote – Commercial Life Science
We are currently partnering with a Mechanical Services Contractor operating in the London area. With demonstrated success in commercial, industrial, retail and public sector, they are now seeking an experience Buyer to join them for a Commercial Life Science project.
Responsibilities
Procurement of Materials and Equipment: The Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing all materials, equipment, and supplies required for the construction project. They ensure that all items meet the quality specifications and regulatory standards specific to life sciences, such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) for pharmaceutical or laboratory environments.
Supplier and Vendor Management: The Buyer is tasked with identifying, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers and vendors. They ensure that the suppliers can meet the required quality, cost, and delivery timelines. The Buyer also maintains good relationships with these suppliers, managing contracts and resolving any issues that arise during procurement or delivery.
Cost Control and Budgeting: The Buyer ensures that all purchased materials and services stay within the project’s budget. They track costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and negotiate favourable terms and discounts with suppliers. They also monitor delivery schedules to avoid any delays that might impact the overall project timeline or budget.
Compliance with Regulations and Standards: In life science projects, the Buyer must ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet stringent regulatory requirements and industry standards. This includes ensuring that products comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as any specific certifications required for the life sciences sector.
Inventory Management and Delivery Coordination: The Buyer manages inventory to ensure that materials are available when needed on-site without overstocking. They coordinate the delivery schedules with suppliers, ensuring that the materials arrive on time and in the correct quantities. They also track any backorders or delays and communicate this information to the project team to avoid any disruptions in construction progress.
