Electrical Engineer – Data Centres – Finland
Our client is an established main contractor working across Europe specialising in the delivery of Data Centre construction projects on behalf of global blue-chip clients. They offer a full turnkey service for their clients from design, construction and handover across the full range of CSA (civil, structural, architectural), MEP (mechanical and electrical) and commissioning works
The need now exists for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the team working on a Hyper-Scale Data Centre new build scheme in Finland.
Responsibilities
Design and Specification of Electrical Systems: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing electrical systems that meet the power, lighting, and backup requirements of the data centre. This includes designing the main electrical distribution systems, backup power systems (such as UPS and generators), and energy-efficient systems for the data centre infrastructure.
Coordination of Electrical Installations: The Electrical Engineer coordinates the installation of electrical systems, ensuring that all components, such as wiring, lighting, electrical panels, and distribution boards, are installed according to the project’s design and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations
Energy Management and Efficiency: They are responsible for ensuring that the electrical systems are designed and implemented with energy efficiency in mind. This could include optimizing power distribution, designing energy-saving solutions, and implementing monitoring systems to track energy consumption.
Testing and Commissioning of Electrical Systems: The Electrical Engineer oversees the testing and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring that they are functioning as designed. This includes verifying that backup power systems like generators and UPS systems perform correctly under load conditions and meet the required operational standards.
Compliance with Safety Standards and Regulations: Ensuring that all electrical installations comply with safety standards and local regulations is a critical responsibility. This includes working to prevent electrical hazards, ensuring grounding and bonding are correctly applied, and verifying that safety measures such as circuit breakers, fire suppression systems, and emergency power systems are in place and functional.
