Our client is a €500m turnover, multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake large turnkey projects for blue-chip clientele, in Europe the focus is on Data Centres and similar tech-focussed projects. In Ireland they operate as more of a generalist main contractor working across a variety of industry sectors including healthcare / hospitals, residential, education and industrial
Due to a recent project win, our client is now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Dublin.
Responsibilities
Investigate and Identify Gaps in Design: When critical components are missing, the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for conducting a thorough investigation to determine which parts or specifications were overlooked. They analyse the situation and pinpoint the design deficiencies or issues that need to be addressed.
Redesign and Modify Systems: If critical elements are missing or incorrect, the engineer must adjust or redesign parts of the mechanical system to fill those gaps. This may involve reworking components, materials, or entire systems to ensure they meet project requirements and standards.
Coordinate with Other Engineering Disciplines: Mechanical Design Engineers often work closely with other engineering teams (electrical, civil, and structural) to ensure the revised designs integrate smoothly across all areas. Effective communication and collaboration are key to fixing missing elements without causing further delays or complications.
Evaluate and Manage Potential Risks: When critical elements are missing or delayed, there could be significant risks related to performance, safety, or project timelines. The Mechanical Design Engineer is tasked with evaluating these risks and taking proactive steps to mitigate them, which could include redesigning parts for improved durability or functionality.
Ensure Compliance and Performance Testing: After addressing missing elements, the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems meet industry codes, regulatory standards, and quality assurance protocols. They may need to conduct tests and simulations to validate that the new designs perform as expected under operational conditions.
