Location: Rosslare, Wexford Salary: €70,000 - €90,000 + benefits

Mechanical Engineer – Rosslare – Europort

Our client is a €500m turnover, multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake large turnkey projects for blue-chip clientele, in Europe the focus is on Data Centres and similar tech-focussed projects. In Ireland they operate as more of a generalist main contractor working across a variety of industry sectors including healthcare / hospitals, residential, education and industrial  

Due to a recent project win, our client is now seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Rosslare.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Structural Engineering of Port Facilities: Mechanical Engineers play a crucial role in designing foundations for various port structures, including buildings, retaining walls, heavy-duty manholes, chambers, high mast lighting, and lighting columns. Their expertise ensures these structures are robust and capable of withstanding the operational demands of a busy port.
  • Coordination of Below-Ground Services: Managing the allocation and integration of below-ground services is essential for the seamless operation of port facilities. Mechanical Engineers oversee this coordination, utilizing tools like federated BIM models to plan and implement these services effectively, minimizing disruptions to ongoing port operations.
  • Implementation of Ground Improvement Techniques: To enhance the stability and durability of port infrastructure, Mechanical Engineers assess and apply ground improvement methods, such as cement/lime stabilization. This approach can lead to significant cost savings and environmental benefits by reducing the need for importing fill materials.
  • Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Working alongside civil, structural, electrical, and environmental engineers, Mechanical Engineers contribute to a holistic design approach. This collaboration ensures that all aspects of port development are harmonized, addressing challenges like maintaining ongoing operations during construction activities.
  • Adherence to Safety and Regulatory Standards: Ensuring that all mechanical designs and implementations comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards is a critical responsibility. Mechanical Engineers conduct thorough assessments and inspections to uphold the safety and reliability of port operations.

Requirements

Must have minimum of 3+ Years experience in a similar role

Must have experience on similar projects

€70,000-€90,000 per annum + Benefits
