Our client is an established main contractor working across Europe specialising in the delivery of Data Centre construction projects on behalf of global blue-chip clients. They offer a full turnkey service for their clients from design, construction, and handover across the full range of CSA (civil, structural, architectural), MEP (mechanical and electrical) and commissioning works.   

The need now exists for an experienced Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor for new build Hyper-Scale Data Centre projects in Groningen, Netherlands. As Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor you will manage the financial aspects of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works including all aspects of the contractual side of projects, risk assessment, and budgetary control whilst maintaining the highest quality standards.  

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:       

  • Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates, budgets, and financial plans for the project, performing cost analysis and value engineering to optimise project costs without compromising on quality. 

  • Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts and subcontract with clients, contractors, and suppliers ensuring that all contractual obligations are met, and manage any variations or changes to the contract, including pricing adjustments. 

  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents, including contract conditions, bills of quantities, and subcontractor packages. 

  • Identify, assess, and manage financial and contractual risks associated with MEP projects and ensure that all issues are addressed without delay.  

  • Prepare regular financial reports, including cash flow forecasts, estimates, and budget variance analyses and provide accurate and timely financial data to project directors and relevant stakeholders to support informed decision-making.   

  • Manage the procurement and budget allocation process as directed by the Project Director for subcontractors, materials, and services, assess suppliers, negotiate terms, conditions, and ensure that all procurements are cost-effective and delivered on time.  

  • Ensure that all financial and contractual activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, implementing and maintaining quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of cost estimates and financial reports.  

  • Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and continuous professional development.  

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or related field.  

  • 5+ years of experience in Senior MEP Quantity Surveying roles within construction with main/subcontractors preferably in Data Centre projects.  

  • Prominent level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of quantity surveying and reporting.  

  • Strong understanding of construction contracts.  

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex financial data and make informed decisions.  

  • Proficiency in Quantity Surveying software and tools.  

  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and effective communication skills.
